In their short two-year career (1966-1968), the Creation released their only album, We Are Paintermen. The band are perhaps the single most underrated group of the British beat-era, songs like ‘Making Time,’ and ‘Biff Bang Pow’ incorporate the distorted, fuzzy R&B pop-aesthetic, that easily rivals, if not betters, the style of contemporaries The Who, Small Faces and The Rolling Stones, while sing-along, coral ballads like ‘Through My Eyes’ and ‘Painterman’ could easily be mistaken for Beatles covers.

The group was huge in Germany, but sadly never emulated the same amount of success in the U.K. In the years that followed, this album served as a pop-song bible to many British bands in the Mod-revival of the late 70s. The Jam even included a picture of the band on the inside of their 1978 album All Mod Cons.
