Vic News In Brief

A march to Parliament in protest of last year’s fee increases will happen on Thursday. In 2005, the University raised fees by five percent, the maximum fees can be raised under the Fee Maxima scheme. An application has also been made to the Tertiary Education Commission for an exemption to Fee Maxima, to raise humanities fees by ten percent from the second semester. The march leaves from the quad at midday and Chris Knox will be playing from eleven-thirty. VUWSA President Nick Kelly says he may be armed.

There is just one more week left to get your new student ID from the third floor of the Murphy building. Staff distributing the cards would also like to remind students not to punch holes in the new cards. It ruins the chip inside, apparently.

Orientation continues into its third week, with Shihad playing tonight at the Union Hall. Although there were still unsold tickets at the time of writing, they have probably all sold out by now. Other highlights include International Woman’s Day events on Wednesday and So So Modern playing for free on Thursday afternoon in the Union Hall..
