Silent Hill

This film is awesome! One of the best game-to-film transformations. Silent Hill enticed and lured the audience in, promising a thrilling climax, and an unforgettable finale.

I’m not very familiar with Silent Hill the game, but here’s a quick low-down ofwhat you’re in for if you’re in my camp. Rose (Radha Mitchell) and Christopher Da Silva (Sean Bean) adopted a child (Jodelle Ferland) a couple of years back.

Unfortunately she sleepwalks, and when she does, she draws very disturbing pictures of a place similar to what I imagine hell would look like, gruesome with mutilated bodies and an eternal fire. Oh, and she keeps mentioning this place called, predicatably, Silent Hill. No medication seems to help her, so Rose decides to take her to the source of her worries. And that’s when all the freaky stuff happens.

Silent Hill was very graphic. I will remember certain scenes for the rest of my life, like the person getting their skin pulled off in one go, or getting razor wired down the throat. However, the violence is not the most memorable aspect of Silent Hill; the creativity that went into the CGI and designing the sets and costumes just left me in awe of the work that went into this film. According to, most of the horror creatures were dancers in real life, so they could bend in jerky disfigured shapes. There’s a scene with ghoulish nurses with knives and they all have toned and athletic figures, which was awesome – as they looked like spastic serial killer models.

I enjoyed Silent Hill very much. It’s a horror film with so much substance to it, and the CGI was flawless. The atmosphere this film creates is so surreal and convincing; if you’re looking for a horror film that isn’t one bit cheesy, then Silent Hill brutally delivers your expectations.
