As you may have been able to ascertain from the quality of this magazine, I enjoy the odd tipple. During these freezing cold winter months there is only so much comfort food you can eat before you start looking like Comic Book Guy.
So, here is an old recipe my Poppa taught me when I was about eight.
Ingredients
- Tea (I like a strong black Golden Monkey blend, available from T Leaf T for $14.92 for a 75g soft pack.)
- A generous spoonfull of manuka honey.
- A shot (or two) (or three) of whisky. I prefer a nice Talisker when I can get my hands on it, but will settle for Grants or whatever is cheapest.
- A slice of lemon or lemon juice.
Brew the tea to your liking. While the pot is sitting grab a spoonfull of honey and put it in your mug. Pour in a shot of your chosen whisky (or brandy if you so desire). Add lemon juice to taste, then pour in the tea while stirring the spoon to make sure you dissolve all the honey.
A totally delicious treat that will help colds and sore throats. Definitely a good drink to lie on the couch cuddling with while watching Jurassic Park.
