The Comediettes (Sarah Harpur and Jim Stanton) are about to hit it big. At least, it seems that way. You can feel it in the air during their show in the Fringe Festival. Rock-solid gags mix with professionalism to create a thick fog of awesome that smells of further success soon for the award-winning duo.

Admittedly, there are points where the aforementioned professionalism and slickness are marred by quick kinks of the shambolic, which break their carefully crafted rhythms. But it is easy to see that such blips were more emblematic of the two of them having a slightly off night when I saw them, rather than a deeper underly shakiness. They have even managed to make that most dreaded of comedy go-tos, the comedy song, amusing with their various odes to parking wardens and Titanic-themed weddings.

The show is very much two solo stand-up routines, one from each of them, combined by shorter interludes of them together. The stand up in and of itself is very strong but it is the times where they both share the stage of the Fringe Bar that they really shine, and one hopes that there is more of this in their coming shows (they have one forthcoming in the Comedy Festival) as it is in their chemistry as a duo that they really shine.

The Comediettes are about to hit it big. And they totally deserve it.
