Kia ora e te whānau, e ngā pakeke me ngā tamaiti ki te Whare Wānanga o te Ūpoko o te Ika a Māui!

My name is Tam and I’m the Engagement Vice-President at VUWSA for 2018. This pretty much means that I’m working all year to build a strong community among students through things like:

  • EVENTS (O-Week, concerts, stalls),
  • CAMPAIGNS (Fairer Fares, Thursdays in Black),
  • CLUBS (Vic has over 100+ clubs for you to join),
  • ACTIVITIES (Faculty Games, fun stuff on and around campus).

If there’s one thing we want you to know straight off the bat, it’s that VUWSA has got your back. Especially during Orientation Week 2018!

You’ve probably seen the word O-Week everywhere – we’ve got a crazy good schedule of activities for you over the year, that you should all try and get to. But what you might not be aware of is some of the cool stuff we’re doing to make sure everyone is safe and happy throughout the start of the year. Let me inform you:

  • We’re collaborating with Vulnerable Support Charitable Trust to create a safe space in town for when your night gets a bit out the gate! It’s called Take-10 and it’s based at St. James Theatre on Courtenay Place – less than a five minute walk from your new fav club. You can charge your phone here, get some free food, or have someone help you find your way home!
  • At all of our O-Week events, we have a safe room for those who need our help, and there will also be a chill out space in the Bubble, just below the Hunter Lounge, if you want a bit of time out from the gig.
  • We’ve got your hangover dries covered at our VUWSA Stall during the day, every day, where we’ll be giving out our own VUWSA-ade drink that’ll keep you hydrated and ready to go again that night!

We’ve got heaps of other awesome stuff going on, so make sure you check out our Instagram (@vuwsagram) and our Facebook (VUWSA) for more info!
