VUWSA

Kia ora e te whanau!

Hope your livers are still in one piece after O-Week and ready to get cranking for Clubs Week!

For those who aren’t sure what the hell I’m talking about, Clubs Week is happening on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the Kelburn Hub. Clubs on campus all set up stalls to show how they can enrich your life at Vic. The clubs around Uni cover everything that you can possibly think of, from sports clubs like Rowing and Netball, to cultural clubs like Manga and Bell Ringing. If there isn’t a club already set up for your passion, come and see me and we can set it up over the year.

You’ll hear a million and three yarns about what the clubs are and how they can help you, including looking good on the CV, and 99% of them are true. Clubs give you an opportunity to broaden your horizons, your studies, and the way you think. I’m heading into my fifth year and have just extended my degree and I won’t regret a minute, because I will be able to be a part of the best club on campus for an extra semester.

Transferring down from Auckland in my third year, I realised that I would need some friends at uni so I joined the Rowing team and slotted into an awesome community, made amazing friends, and was exposed to more opportunities than I could have ever imagined. My life changed when I became part of a club, and I can assure you that yours can too.

So enjoy your first week of lectures, and be sure to find some time between them to check out Clubs Week, and if you see me floating around, be sure to say hi. I’ll be the idiot dressed head to toe in rowing gear.
