“Opiegate” closed

The full debt for phone calls to psychic hotlines by VUWSA former Acting Women’s Rights Officer Clelia Opie has been repaid to the Students’ Association, President Geoff Hayward said in a press statement last week.

The calls, totalling nearly $6000, were made to several 0900 numbers over the course of around two months. The University has since installed 0900 tollbars on all phone lines.

Hayward would not be drawn to comment on the repayment, the outcome of several weeks of mediation between Opie and Hayward.
