Fort-building to protest cost of living

A ‘box city’ will be built in the Quad at midday on August 8 in protest to rising accommodation costs.

The Education Action Group (EAG) is encouraging students to join in by making their own box bedrooms. Some materials will be provided but students are welcome to bring their own materials “to spice things up”.

A prize for best impromptu residence is also up for grabs.

The EAG says the main message of the event is to “show the Government that we mean it when we say that the accommodation supplement is not enough, and that more students need more help to keep a roof over their heads.”
