Reading is pretty strange. There are these weird lines of black on white, and they correspond to sounds, and they mean things. This is strange.
Also, reading for pleasure is pretty odd too. It just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that you sit down, and a couple of hours later, a narrative has been described to you, but for the most part, not a lot has happened. W-Woo?
But mostly, I find the idea that the particular combination of lines that is “mostly” ends up meaning “more often than not”. How did line-arch-arch circle squiggle cross intersecting-lines end up meaning that? Crazy.
In conclusion: Reading is weird. Also writing, which is really what I’ve been writing about. Same diff.
