Note: Salient would like to address an error from last week’s “Students see both sides of VSM coin” article. Due to an editing mishap, the following text was omitted:

“In 2009, full-time domestic students paid $131.90 each in VUWSA subscription fees. This payment goes towards a number of student services including orientation, class reps, Student Job Search and Salient. If the bill was passed, this payment would no longer be compulsory, as students would be allowed Voluntary Student Membership (VSM).

Fees that go directly to the University would still be compulsory, however.

These include the Student Services Levy, which pays for services such as Accommodation and Student Health, and the Student Technology Fee.”

About the Author ()

Salient is a magazine. Salient is a website. Salient is an institution founded in 1938 to cater to the whim and fancy of students of Victoria University. We are partly funded by VUWSA and partly by gold bullion that was discovered under a pile of old Salients from the 40's. Salient welcomes your participation in debate on all the issues that we present to you, and if you're a student of Victoria University then you're more than welcome to drop in and have tea and scones with the contributors of this little rag in our little hideaway that overlooks Wellington.
