The Pick of the Fringe season kicks off at Downstage this Thursday the 18th. The two lucky shows are the almost profound back/words at 7pm and the delightfully hilarious Wannabe at 9pm. Both are very worthy winners, and for the relatively cheap price of $40 you can see both, which is totally worth it.
At BATS this week two very different but equally interesting shows open. On Tuesday The Second Test, a play about cricket, the Tangiwai disaster and family, opens. It has a deliriously wonderful pedigree with the searingly talented Jonny Brugh, being directed by by the embarrassingly awesome Andrew Foster. Then, on Thursday, opens Skungpoomery, which looks to be a delightfully whimsical evening from some pretty cool dudes.
