“Semi-Sonnet For My Slumber”

My dearest sleep, you are but dreams,
A world I briefly conquer.
Though ‘twould be wise to leave your arms
I wish to bear them longer.

So fare-thee-well, thy sweetest plain
From which I must embark.
And know I shall return again
For moments in the dark.
But I’ve got like five assignments that I’ve left until the last minute so…
You know how it is.
